Get Paddy a violin

This is Paddy Lawless, a world-class traditional musician from Dublin, Ireland. Paddy arrived in Sweden in 2002, and since then, has been the driving force behind regular traditional music sessions in and around Lund, Göteborg, Stockholm, Uppsala and Östersund. His home session for the last 6 years has been the Thursday Session in Inferno, Lund - a weekly traditional music event which Paddy has led without payment, week in week out, together with regular local and international musicians. The session is a focal point for traditional musicians of all sorts in the Öresund region, with students and teachers from Malmö/Lund music conservatories coming regularly to participate in folk music in the traditional session format, and over the years, appearances from well known Swedish folk musicians such as Esbjörn Hazelius, Janne Schäfer, Markus Tullberg and Andreas Ralsgård who have made the journey to Lund.

Last Thursday, while packing up after a session in Inferno, Paddy's violin fell on the ground. Disaster. The fingerboard became detached. It was already in serious trouble, as the body had cracked some time ago, but now it is done, RIP. It's hard to overstate how devastating the loss of an instrument is to a musician who can't replace it.
