My name is Dale Canada. I Am A 63 Years Old Suffering With End-Stage Lung Disease. I Am Raising Funds To Help Cover The Costs For A Required Double-Lung (Bi-Lateral) Transplant And The Anti-Rejection Medications Needed Post Transplant.

I Was Diagnosed With COPD/Emphysema in November 2021. Since March 2022, I Have Been On Supplemental Oxygen. After Further Testing At Emory University Medical Center, My Diagnosis Was Changed To Combined Pulmonary Fibrosis Emphysema (CPFE). The Emory Doctors Indicated That Because Of My Fibrosis, My Condition Was Most Likely Caused By The 30 Years Of Working In The Harsh Environments At Several Factories. Since That Time, I Became A Licensed Electrician.

I Have Been On Oxygen 24/7 Since Mid 2022 And Am Now Requiring 15 Liters Per Minute Just To Be Able To Walk. I Have Been Hospitalized Six Times Within The Last Four Months Due To My Rapidly Declining Health.

My Insurance Will Not Cover Many Of The Costs Involved And Required. Examples Of The Numerous Expenses We Need Assistance With Are:

Co-Pays

Travel And Lodging Expenses (We Will Be Required To Relocate For A Minimum of 3 Months, And Possibly Up To 6 Months to Decatur, GA During My Post-Surgery Rehabilitation)

Post-Surgery Anti-Rejection Medications (Needed For Lifetime) That Insurance Will Not Cover

I Will Require Two Caregivers Who Will Need Accommodations, Meals And Travel

This Is Not Something That I or We Ever Expected To Have To Go Through. My Wife, And I Are Facing This Head On With Much Prayer and Determination, As There Is No Other Treatment Option For Me But To Receive A Bi-Lateral Lung Transplant.

I Have Never Asked Anyone For Financial Help In My Entire Adult Life, But With The Magnitude Of Expenses That Will Be Required For This Life-Changing Procedure, It Will Require More Funds Than We Can Manage At This Time. Emory Lung Transplant Requires Funds To Be In Place Prior To The Procedure.
