Get my wife's life back
Donation protected
Update: surgery has officially been scheduled for the end of this month, October 27th, and we'll have to spend 14 days or so down there before we're able to come home. I'll then be home with her for about 2 weeks before she's able to be by herself. We then have a follow up appointment just after Christmas back down in South Carolina to fully clear her. So lots of great news and some new expenses that we definitely were not counting on, so any and all donations are super appreciated. Thank you to everyone that has donated already and please share and get the word out as much as possible. We love and appreciate you!
Hi, my name is Jerome and I'm not very good at asking for help, but at this point, we need it. A little over a year ago, I married the love of my life, the one person that truly loved me for me and built me up to levels I didn't know possible, Carrie. A little over a month later Carrie was taken out of work due to health issues and a few months later we found out exactly what was causing her issues: a brain tumor.
The next several months were spent seeing multiple doctors, including a neurologist and 2 neurosurgeons, and every procedure they wanted, an MRI, MRA, MRV and a spinal tap among others. And after multiple doctors telling us that they wouldn't operate because according to them her tumor had nothing to do with her symptoms, we finally found a doctor that not only validated what she was going through on a day to day basis, but also agreed to operate.
So here's the issue: we're in Buffalo and her surgery is in South Carolina and we'll be down there a minimum of 10 days plus at least 2 days of travel. And after almost a year of doctor visits, procedures, medications and what not, we are tapped both financially and emotionally and I honestly don't know what else to do or where to turn. I hate asking for help, especially financial help, but after almost a year of struggling to get this damn thing out of her head, I'm not going to let my pride get in the way of my amazing wife getting her life back.
For those wondering what Carrie goes through on a daily basis, here's a little insight:
- Migraines that last all day and are only dulled by 2500mg of Tylenol
- Vertigo
- Memory and vision loss
- Tinnitus
- Insomnia, she might get 3 hours of continuous sleep a night
- Loss of energy, she can maybe do one or two simple things around the house before she is spent
- Light sensitivity
- Speech issues
- Brain fog
and these are only the physical issues that she deals with. From a mental stand point, I've watched my once confident and full of life wife, become consumed with self doubt and worth.
