Get my mum to New York

My mum has spent the last 30 years fighting cancer, and somehow, she still continues to put everyone else first.

At just 28 years old, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer after finding a tiny pea-sized lump just one week before my first birthday. At the time, she was raising three children under 7, including my brother who has Down’s syndrome.

She went through surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and years of treatment… and after that, we were lucky enough to have 24 cancer-free years.

Then in 2019, everything changed again.

While getting ready for an event, she noticed changes in her breast and instantly knew something wasn’t right. She was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer - a much more aggressive form of the disease.

She underwent multiple major surgeries during the pandemic, spending weeks in hospital alone with no visitors allowed.

We then discovered she carries the BRCA1 gene mutation, and sadly, I discovered I carry it too. Because of this, I made the decision to have a preventative double mastectomy at 28 years old, the same age my mum was when she was first diagnosed.

In 2024, my mum was diagnosed again… this time with stage 4 primary peritoneal cancer. She underwent major surgery and chemotherapy, all while holding onto one goal, being there for my wedding.

Her Doctor said, you won’t just be attending, you’ll be dancing. She got her wish.

In February 2026, my beautiful daughter was born, my mum’s first granddaughter.

Then just one month later, she was diagnosed with cancer again.

She underwent another major surgery on her birthday on 21st April, and is now preparing to start chemotherapy again.

Despite everything she’s faced, she has spent years giving back and has helped raise way over £50,000 for various charities through countless events.

She has never asked for anything for herself.
But we told her to put a bucket list together. She had just 2 wishes, she has always dreamed of flying first class and visiting New York.

She turns 60 next year, and after everything she has been through, I would love to make that dream come true.

So many people from TikTok asked me to set this up, and whether you donate £1 or simply share this page, thank you so much for helping me do something special for the strongest woman I know
