Spende geschützt
Hello everybody,
Weiwei Tao, who is me, was raised by a strong and beautiful lady on this cover page and would love to get your help paying her medical bill.
Born and raised in China, lived in Europe, and now in the US since 2017, I am very lucky to have the opportunity to see and feel the world.
We were planning a holiday while my parents are here visiting me. The dream was to take them to warm beach places to enjoy a family gathering. This dream was broken by one thing - cancer.
When mom just landed here, the symptoms were only a light level of uncomfortableness, which we all thought was just hemorrhoids because she is a very healthy lady. She eats healthily, exercises every day, and sleeps early. We started to check on her at the beginning of October, and the GI specialist thought it could be rectal prolapse. After a CT scan and MRI scan, the doctor recommended us to a gynecologic oncology doctor, which got us nervous. They just told us - there is a mass. We continued the diagnosis with Northwestern, and Dr. Marcus squeezed us in on short notice. I still remember the day of Halloween. While my son was enjoying Trick or Treat, the phone rang - the biopsy result was positive for cancer. We need to do a PET scan soon. I didn’t tell her - please let her finish a good holiday with her grandson.
Knowing it’s cancer that we are battling with is absolutely a heavy hit on our hearts, but I was taught to be a fighter while I was young. Nothing beats a positive mind with a strong belief - that’s my mom’s life value and now mine.
We do not have too much time for tears. We have to make appointments, get treatment started, battle with cancer, and kill it before it kills us…
The good thing is that we are together. The bad thing is - no insurance wants to cover her. Travel insurance takes cancer as a precondition, a visitor visa doesn’t qualify mom to get any financial assistance here, and I have completely used all my savings for treatment so far.
Her diagnostic costs about $10,000 (CT, MRI, PET scan), the external treatment plan costs about $60,000, and the chemo cost is not calculated yet at this moment. The final step is internal radiation treatment, which will cost $94,151.
I kindly ask for your help to get our family through this difficult time. The bill that I ask for funds would be a partial of internal radiation treatment. Two nights at the hospital and the days are scheduled for Jan 7-9. Cancer treatment wouldn’t work if we miss this one.
I hope mom will get treated and be a cancer survivor, and I will for sure share more if anyone would like to know.
Yours sincerely,
Weiwei Tao
