Goal of the fund: Save Samar, Maria and Rita from war.

The cost of getting out of Gaza through Ya Halla Travel agency is, 5000 per ADULT and 2500 per MINOR. We have 5000 the equivalent of Maria and Rita to get out ... we need 5000 more to get their mother out too, they have to travel together. 250 people could help with 20USD each.

Beneficiaries:

The main beneficiaries are my wife and two little girls:

Samar Abunada 29 years old
Maria Awad 5 years old
Rita Awad 4 years old

Purpose of the fund: why do we need your help?

We are asking for your help in order to evacuate my wife and two daughters who are currently living in a school in Rafah Gaza, where it is unsafe, full of disease and unbearably overcrowded.

Rafah is an unsafe place; it is currently under threat of a massive ground invasion, which puts everyone living there in imminent danger.

My story: meet my family

My name Is Muhanad Awed. I am a father trying to save his family. I hope you will read my letter with your hearts and put yourself in my place to imagine what I am going through.

I am sure that those who have children will understand my position.

Your support could save my wife and my little daughters, Maria and Rita. Every minute they face death, illness, and starvation, and their lives are in imminent danger. Every moment I fear losing them. And I am constantly reminded of the death of so many friends and relatives.

Before the war, I traveled abroad seeking a better life and my wife stayed alone to take care of our children. Under the bombs, she and my daughters were forcefully displaced from the south of Gaza to the north. Our house was completely destroyed and we have nowhere else to go.

What happened since the beginning of the war: Samar tells the story.

"The seventh of October was a Saturday. I woke up to sounds of booming. It was my off day so I decided not to send my girls to kindergarten. My husband called and told me to go to my parents place (Bir Al Na'ja), our place was too dangerous and close to the seaside (Al Twam).

I refused until everyone else in the building left, so I left too. I didn't stay with at my parents for long because they were asked to evacuate too. We were forcibly displaced four times. The last time when we moved from the South to the North, we were trembling from fear; they have just boomed our neighbours with whom we used to go get water. We took a cab and went to the check point. I raised my girls to be strong. I showed them the tanks and the soldiers; they were not scared. At one point, people were shouting "there's a tank!", Rita looked up to the sky. I guess she thought it was a bird. We stayed on the check point for five hours. The girls hadn't eaten anything that day. They didn't even complain. They were so brave. We got to the school that night and slept on the ground from exhaustion.

We sleep in a shared classroom with 35 people. Sanitation is limited, to say the least. I took the girls to the barbers shop recently and buzzed their hair down because of a lice outbreak. I could not help but cry seeing Maria's beautiful hair gone. I told myself that it's ok, it will grow back.

Every one asks me where my husband is, how are you taking care of the kids on your own in the war.. I feel so weak and helpless when I should be strong for my girls and protect them.

Every day I have to walk 4 kilometres to fetch water for our daily use. When we need to take a shower we need to walk all that distance again. Every day is a real struggle."
.......................................................................................................................

For the past six months Samar, Rita and Maria have moved from one place to another, suffering cold and extreme hunger -- Maria and Rita are too young to understand why they must endure such terrifying and painful circumstances, they have many unanswered questions.

Yet, my girls and wife continue to dream of a peaceful life, without bombs, hunger, and cold. And they simply wish to go home and play with their toys, too young to understand the meaning of war.

My wife and children are forced to live in a school where, recently, my daughter's first tooth fell out -- memories like these are not supposed to be made under such circumstances.

A few months ago, Maria and Rita were having beautiful days, but now they are in a state of shock, and my wife cannot even answer their question “What is happening?"

Everything in my house was destroyed: the memories, where my daughters took their first steps and the toys they played with, the stories and colouring books that are now turned into ashes.

I have lost too many family members. I cannot lose my wife and daughters.

We only want to survive and rebuild our lives somewhere safe. The first step is to get out of the war and go to safety. Next, to establish a new life in a safe country where my girls can go to school. I want my girls to have opportunities like all children should have. I want them to play and take part in healthy activities. I want them to develop properly in a nurturing environment fit for a child. And I want to see the smiles on their faces once again. We need your help to get them to safety, every dollar you donate will get us closer to safety.

If everyone donated even 5$ or 10$, it could be enough to save my family. We are very thankful for your support, if you can spread the word to your family and friends it would be helpful also.
