It should come as no surprise that things are looking bleak in the Greatest Nation in the World for members of the LGBTQ+ community. The current administration makes clear day by day that we are not welcome here, and my fiancée and I think it is best, for our own safety and quality of life, to oblige.

With this campaign, we are starting small; my fiancée needs to travel back to Australia now to start setting up our new life there, as well as for her own safety. For this, we need to ask for urgent help in securing funds for the plane ticket.

Many of you know by now that I have been working two exhausting jobs concurrently, one full-time and one part-time. My fiancée has been working part-time as well while also seeking full-time work to no avail. This has been enough for us to get by each month. However, we have only barely been able to cover the typical expenses of groceries, medications, utilities, and rent. Our collective income has not been enough to save up a meaningful sum by any means.

On top of that, I also found out yesterday that my current full-time job will no longer exist in a couple of months.

The situation has reached a point of urgency so dire that, in addition to this campaign, we are taking inventory of all our possessions to determine what we can sell, and for how much.

We are scared. We are terrified. We are devastated. Yet we are also determined. With your help, we will get through this, and we will be able to spend the rest of our lives together when I am able to meet my fiancée in our new home.

As previously stated, this campaign aims to fund at bare minimum the cost of a one-way ticket to Australia (~$1100). Any additional funds donated beyond that will go towards my travel costs, visa costs, covering my fiancée’s living costs while looking for housing and a job, and securing us a new safe home together.
