Get Mrs Miggins making sausage rolls again

Hi, this is Megan Twisk & Julie Whittington - we are the ridiculously proud owners of Mrs Miggins British Bakery. Since COVID we have lived and breathed our small business bringing authentic British style sausage rolls and savoury pasties to our awesome customers here in the Bay Area.

On Thursday night we were woken to the devastating news that our shared commercial kitchen facility in Fremont was on fire. Within 90 minutes the structure was completely destroyed. Thankfully no one was hurt, however, we and every other small business based at the kitchen have lost everything with insurance that transpires, is worth little more than the paper its printed upon.

As puff pastry refugees we are already desperately looking for a new home in the area, somewhere that can accommodate two rather difficult, opinionated English women of a certain age, as well as a ridiculous amount of freezer space. Whilst we try and pin down a new home for Mrs Miggins, we are acutely aware that we have lost all the tools, equipment, accumulated bespoke bits and bobs, specialist ingredients and cripplingly, well over $30,000 of frozen inventory that was ready to go.

While we regroup we have to suspend all seven of our Bay Area farmers markets and online orders. We expect it to take several weeks to secure a new location, tools, equipment and get ourselves back up and running in order to return to serving our wonderful customers.

We'll be using any funds we raise to help secure a new kitchen home, replace all our kitchen equipment and tools, commercial freezers/mixer, packaging and ingredients to rebuild our stock to get back out there.

We have been so touched by how many of our friends, customers and community have asked how they can help and we're incredibly grateful for any and all support we may get. With your help and our perseverance, we hope this will be just a blip in our sausage roll chronicles.
