Our mate Mikey Allen is very sick and needs some help to get back on his feet.
Mikey was admitted to hospital after Christmas with bowel problems and was diagnosed and began treatment for Crohns disease, an inflammtory disease of the digestive tract. He was sent home with the hope that he would be able to manage the condition.
With little improvement and a few more trips to the specialists, things were pretty static.
About 4 weeks ago, Mikey presented to the hospital again, with worse symptoms. He was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, a chronic, inflammatory bowel disease. The disease can be treated but not cured.

Mikey's condition was determined to be so severe, he was rushed to emergency surgery for the removal of his entire colon or large intestine.
He has not been well since the surgery, and they have now taken him off food and are feeding him intravenously. He has lost 25% of his body weight.
This will be a long term rehabilitation for Mikey and probably take the rest of the year or more. The loss of time and income will prove very difficult for him and Adele, who is taking all of the financial responsibility at this stage. Mikey's health insurance will not cover his condition, making the situation even more extreme. Mikey and Adele got married late last year, so once again, they have little savings left after that.
