Help Get Mighty Miles to Boston for Heart Surgery

My Nephew, Mighty Miles, was born on August 8th, 2021, with a heart that is just too big. Diagnosed with Left Heart Hypoplastic Syndrome, he has spent the first four months of his life having multiple open-heart surgeries, not leaving the Cardiac ICU until just after Christmas. The incredible doctors at Herma Heart Institute did all they could to prepare Miles for the journey ahead. Still, everything Mighty Miles has already braved was just to keep him alive and get him strong enough to endure the surgeries yet to come. This baby boy has bravery coursing through his veins while keeping the brightest smile you have ever seen!

On March 2nd, Miles and his mommy are heading to Boston so doctors there can assess his heart and get him on a surgical path that will allow him to live a happy, active life. This path is full of unknown obstacles and his recovery time is wholly unpredictable. It could be weeks, but we’ve been told to prepare for much longer.

The many months already spent in the hospital have depleted most of the savings Miles’ mommy had socked away. The trip to Boston will be expensive, and this time Miles and his mommy will be all on their own. There won’t be family nearby to drive to Milwaukee bringing food or necessities; there isn’t a Ronald McDonald across the street from the hospital in Boston like there is in Milwaukee. Miles' mommy is working overtime to prepare for this next leg of his journey, but she will need all the help she can get. We want all of her focus on Miles, being there to keep him safe and calm while he fights for his life. She will likely be unable to work for months all while incurring expenses during what’s expected to be a lengthy stay in Boston, and the bills at home will continue to pile up.

All my sister has ever asked for were prayers for her son, but prayers won’t keep them from financial ruin while she cares for Mighty Miles during the most challenging time of his short life.
