My name is Miriam Guarracino and my grandbabies call me Meme. I have a story. It started with a hope to serve as a teacher, a grandmother and an active church and community member. We arrived in California three years ago in good health.

Over the course of the last three years my health began spiraling downward. I am unable to keep food down. I am losing weight and my adult children and friends are concerned with my rapid decline and appearance. I am unable to perform even minimal tasks without tiring, dizziness or constant pain. I have had to step away from my job due to these struggles as well.

After going to doctor after doctor within my insurance plan I was unable to get the help I needed. In desperate hope, I decided to find a doctor that specialized in Functional Medicine that would look deeper at my health issues, but they were not covered by our health insurance plan. They performed many different types of lab work and uncovered many of my health issues. I am still being treated with traditional doctors and with Functional medicine. They both have found issues with my esophagus and problems with my digestive system that are causing pain daily. Combined with this we are now overwrought with substantial medical bills that total over $13,000. This is from out of pocket expenses which include a special strict diet, insurance copays, lab work, doctors’ visits, several prescriptions and continued ongoing care.

That is why I am reaching out. I am asking for your help in any amount you can to help us pay back our medical debt which has caused a financial burden on our family that we cannot manage. I am also praying that I can enjoy life again. Playing with my grandchildren, serving my church community in South San Diego and continuing to teach struggling readers. These are my hopes and dreams that I began three years ago. I believe God is good and He will continue to give me strength and provide for my needs through caring people.
