GET MEDICAL CARE & TRACHEOSTOMY REVERSAL ABROAD
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Esther Nwokoma, from Abia State in Nigeria. I'm a 19yr old first-year student of English language, Faculty of Arts, Ambros Ali University (AAU) Ekpoma, Edo state, Nigeria. I was involved in a terrible bike/motor vehicle accident in Nov 2021 (at age 17) on my way from school. I sustained severe multiple injuries/lacerations all over my body and multiple fractures to my legs, femur and ribs. I was unable to walk or stand for over a year. The broken ribs pierced into my lungs which severely affected my breathing. I was in the ICU for several weeks and due to severe damages to my lungs, I was unable to maintain normal oxygen levels, so I was intubated for several weeks. Finally, the doctors performed a tracheostomy with a tube (an opening in my neck/throat) on me as I was almost dead due to my inability to breathe in oxygen on my own.
For the past 2years and 2 months , I have been on this life support, I have gone through more than 15 surgeries which were all unsuccessful. I've been in the hospital during this past 2 years and at this time there is no hope of any success from future surgeries.
I have been advised to seek expert medical care abroad for tracheostomy reconstruction. This will be involving much financial commitment of which my parents are unable to afford. My mother has been looking after me in the hospital during this entire period leaving my dad alone to carry the financial burdens of taking care of myself, my mom, my other 3 siblings and the hospital bills.
At this point, I've been accepted by the USF hospital in Tampa, Florida USA for the reconstruction of the opening in my neck to enable me breathe on my own without life support. This will cost about $70,000 to $628,000 US dollars per the hospital estimated cost. My parents have to prove the availability of this fund or at least the minimum of $70,000 in their bank account before a visa will be issued to me to travel to the USA for treatment of which they can't afford.
I am pleading for your financial assistance no matter how little to enable me get this care. The successful surgery on me will enable me to return to live a normal life and go back to school again. I believe that God who spared my life from such terrible accident will help me to live to help others who might be in need and to those who may come in contact with me.
As you have been touched to help me, I pray that God will bless you and your family and may He attend to your needs whenever you call upon Him. Thank you so much for your generous donations and support.
Yours sincerely,
Esther and family.
