Get Jordy to the Freediving World Champs 2023
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Jordy and I’m the current Australian champion for pool freediving. My BIG goal for 2023 is to represent Australia at the Freediving World Championships being held in South Korea in June.
If you're not familiar with freediving, don't worry, a lot of people aren't! It is essentially swimming or diving underwater holding your breath without a breathing apparatus. Freediving is so much more than just a sport or hobby to me. Finding freediving was the catalyst to taking small steps to start prioritising my health after struggling with an eating disorder for more than a decade. It’s a long and challenging road to “recovery” but freediving is my reason to keep fighting.
I can hold my breath for more than 6 minutes and can swim more than four laps of a 50m pool underwater on one breath. I hold six current Australian women's records for pool freediving and was ranked #4 in the world for women across the pool freediving disciplines in 2022 (AIDA ranking system).
While I am fortunate to partner with Orca Sportswear who provide my competition wetsuit, I’ve had to fund all other equipment and competition costs myself. I am seeking support from my family, friends, followers and businesses in the form of a financial contribution to enable me to travel to South Korea to compete at the world championships.
Cost breakdown
Flights: $2500
Accommodation: $1200
Food: $600
Comp rego: $610
Travel insurance: $140
I would be so grateful if you could show your support by donating a little (or a lot) to help me achieve the biggest goal in my freediving journey so far!
Thank you in advance.
