Get Me Cross-Country for Lifesaving Surgery

My name is Chelsea Hardesty. I am 31 years old, a mother of 2 amazing children, and am married to a wonderful man. I'm reaching out to share my story and ask for your support as I embark on a critical moment in my chronic medical journey.

Most of you know by now, for over 15 years, I endured unexplained pain, fainting spells, and gastrointestinal issues. Despite numerous doctor visits, I was often told it was "all in my head" or "part of being a woman," leading to misdiagnoses and even forced mental health treatments. It wasn't until 2018 that I was finally diagnosed with endometriosis—a chronic, systemic, inflammatory condition where abnormal growths cause severe pain and complications in multiple areas of the human body.

Since then, I've undergone multiple surgeries, including the removal of endometriosis from my colon, rectum, large intestine, and bladder, as well as a hysterectomy due to adenomyosis. I have had a hemorrhoidectomy and a resection of my colon and a rectal prolapse repair already. These procedures provided some relief, but the disease's progression and its impact on my body, paired with the recent findings of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome that has been present the entire time undiagnosed, have led to even further complications, including pelvic floor dysfunction, organ prolapse, and endometriosis on imaging.

Now, I've been presented with an opportunity to consult with Dr. Camran Nezhat, a world-renowned endometriosis specialist in California. I have had the honor to volunteer for his organization for some time now. A true pioneer and one of the limited medical professionals I truly trust for these complex findings. This consultation and subsequent surgery offer hope for significant improvement in my quality of life. However, the costs associated with travel, accommodation, and out-of-pocket medical expenses are substantial.
