Asking for help is never easy, and I need a lot of help here folks. In short I'm kinda screwed.
I was up in Canada visiting my girlfriend Em for my Birthday. While we were driving last Friday my car started making expensive sounding noises from the transmission. Since it was a holiday weekend, the car couldn't get looked at until today, and the news isn't great. Something is very wrong with the transmission and the car is unsafe to drive in in it current condition. They don't know if it's a repair or replace the transmission sort of situation . The worst case scenario is replacing the transmission with a used one which is around $1000, $1500 if you include labor, which doesn't include replacing the clutch (which is recommended. To cover all of these contingencies is why I'm asking for $2000.
$2000 is currently well beyond my means. As many of you may know I broke my back a couple of years ago and have been out of work since then. Worker's comp has been barely seeing me through in the interim , and Em's situation is no better. To make things worse I've already been in country for over two weeks, am out of one medication and am running low on others, and don't want to overstay my welcome in this country. I hate to ask, but I need to get the car fixed and get home, and I need help in a big way.
