Help Marielle avoid deportation back to Haiti
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Marielle, I am a single mother of two US citizen children, whom I had to leave behind when I got removed from the states back in 2020. I came to the DR from Haiti because it just wasn't safe for someone like myself who left at a young age. I lived in the states undocumented for over 30 years. Being that I was a child when I came, I was unaware of my status until I turned 18. By then, laws had changed making it harder to gain residency or citizenship. I've made some mistake along the way, but have atoned for them. I spent most of my adult life as a hard working single mother who would sacrifice anything for her sons, But unfortunately, ICE and the previous administration did not see me that way.
You may be aware of the long standing war between Haiti and the DR, but as of late, things have gotten worse. Dominicans have always deported illegal Haitians, but most recently, the Haitian people have started the construction of a canal, which would help sustain them, resulting in less import from the DR, and that has sparked outrage from the Dominican president. He has since closed the borders between Haiti and the DR, which enables Haitians to legally enter or exit after the allowed 30 day stay, suspended visa issuance to the Haitian people, forbid taxy drivers to service Haitians, pulled Haitian children out of school, and the list goes on. All this will result in Haitians being sent back to a place where gang members are currently running rampant. I am a visa holder but as of the 16th of September, am considered an over stayer. This has resulted in me hiding out in my home, unable to go buy food or any basic necessities
I thought with my English proficiency, and knowledge I obtained in the states, I'd be able to work and support myself here while waiting to return back to my children. That has not been the case. I attempted to create my own business with what little money I had, but it didn't work. I have been here for 3 years and things are gradually getting worse.
As hard as this was for me, I'm creating this go fund me as a cry for help, to get me out of the DR and into Mexico LEGALLY. There I'll be able to work, and await my time peacefully. I have been surviving off the mercy of friends and family and I really just want to be able to work and care for myself as an adult. The visa process is simple, and once there, they will issue me a work permit and eventually, residency. My children, one of which is still a minor, need me and I havent been able to so much as gift them a birthday card in over 3 years. Please help me get to a place where I can afford the bare necessities, like food, rent, but most importantly, have a pathway to be legal, without having to relive the trauma of deportation all over again. I would even like to be able to fly my children out to visit me from time to time, I havent seen them in over 1 year, since september 2022. I thank you all for your time and understanding, and appreciate ANY amount donated.
Sincerely,
