Get Maranda to a Specialist
Donation protected
My baby sister, Maranda incurred a traumatic foot injury at the age of 11. Little did we know at the time, but this freak accident would alter her life forever.. My perfectly healthy little sister is now 14 and lives with pain, fatigue and multiple other ill feelings on a daily basis. She is incapacitated to the extent that she can only attend school for up to 3 hours a day. She also no longer plays any sports, piano, dance or extracurricular clubs. A few of her formal diagnosises at the Golisano Children's Hospital in Rochester NY include Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. The drs have a full plan to treat these issues. However, one of Maranda's most debilitating issues is the trauma that her autonomic nervous system incurred. Everything from her digestion, to blood flow and blood volume, to nerve pain, to brain function is affected. All of these issues to her autonomic nervous system have a name: it's called DYSAUTONOMIA.
There are currently no doctors within my family's insurance network who have formal training, expertise and comprehensive plans for people with dysautonomia. After much research through Dysautonomia International, my parents have found a specialist in Virginia who comes highly recommended as being one of the very best, of the few doctors we have in the US. His name is Dr Hasan Abdallah. He sees new patients in a 2-3 hour appointment on a Monday and then spends the rest of the week following through with multiple tests to create the best diagnosis and plan for his patients.
Unfortunately, my family's insurance plan does not cover ANY of the doctors fees or tests. I am hoping to help my parents raise funds to get my sister to her appointment on October 23rd. They are DESPERATE to improve my baby sisters quality of life and are very reluctant to ask for financial assistance.
The money raised will be used towards doctor fees, tests, lodging and travel expenses. We have no idea how much it is going to cost total, but the first appointment alone, which includes a few tests, costs $800. She will then stay in the area to receive diagnostic testing and treatment for the rest of the week. My parents will need to pay for transportation and a hotel as well.
My family fully believes in the power of prayer and has full faith and peace knowing that God has Maranda's needs in His hands. So even if you cannot donate, please keep her in your prayers.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!
