Get LXP Revolution to SODIT festival!!!

Hi – I’m Tamar, I’m one of the members of LXP Revolution  and this is our GoFundMe campaign to raise money to get us and our Mental Health activism stand to the SODIT festival .
LXP Revolution is a grassroots activism group in Birmingham, UK. We are made up of people who work in the Lived Experience Professions and our allies. In case you are wondering what the chuff that is – these are basically any jobs where people use their experience of living with a mental health condition within their work. We do all sorts and are called all sorts – Peer Workers, Lived Experience Researchers, Service User Consultants, etc.
We raise awareness of the horrific discrimination, stigma and career blocking LXPs face at work, documenting our activism in Birmingham. The discrimination is so bad that some members of the group choose to remain anonymous. Now we are raising awareness of the discrimination LXPs face nationally.
This is where you & GoFundMe come into play. We’ve managed to score a very last minute stand at the SODIT festival in Sheffield. This is no vanilla statutory services or large charity mental health event. This is by Mad people, for Mad people. It’s just where we need to be – with people like us. We can link with people there, let them know about the site, share details of local activism happening in other areas, and encourage people to write blogs for the site.
The problem is, we need a very last minute stand to spread the word. As a collective we have somehow managed to get badges, t-shirts, leaflets, stickers and pop-up banners together by scraping together our last few pennies, raiding credit cards and PayPal funds. We are arranging car pools and train fares.
We could really do with donations to fund this – because at the moment we are the people who are the most vulnerable to the discrimination and exploitative pay who have to cover the cost of raising awareness that what is happening to us is even an issue that exists.
We know our wonderful Mad Community isn’t very flush. Our allies often aren’t far behind. Except for the odd psychiatric consultant… in which case, dig deep! But seriously, every little helps.
£1 will pay for 5 badges! (Hundreds of these)
£3 will pay for a coffee to keep us going on the day (endless supply needed)
£15 will pay for a t-shirt! (Several ordered)
£50 will pay for a Pop-Up banner!
Plus banners, stickers, train fares, petrol. Etc, etc. Yikes.
The road trip hasn’t been totally costed yet, it may be a little more, so any additional funds will go towards these costs and any future activism we do.
Thank you so much for your support.
