Loki is the most caring and loving gentleman with a spicy, sassy side. He's a Heinz 57 pup and I like to call him my 80 lb chihuahua. He loves to run and play with his plushy toys and his sister Arya. He takes his job very seriously and helps me navigate life as a disabled person. He loves to snuggle and hog the bed. He's super independent but loyal to his person. He's the light of my life and my absolute soul.
Loki is only 8.5 years old, and he has been diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a result of very high glucose levels often undiscovered because the parent doesn't know the dog has diabetes. He needs hospitalization which is at least $1500/day. His insulin will be at least $80/12.5 days for the rest of his life, if he survives the DKA. We are trying to find more affordable care but low cost clinics have either turned us down (due to not having the ability to care for his current very severe state of health) or haven't gotten back to us. We are currently giving him some minimal care that we can at home but one of the largest issues is that he isn't eating so giving insulin becomes much riskier.
We need your help to get Loki healthy again. He has so much life left to live with us.
