My beloved sister, Lizzie, is in her 4th year at university, hoping to start work as a naturopath next year, specialising in mental health. Growing up she was a passionate dancer and musician, often playing by ear. She would take requests at parties and teach me how to play songs I couldn't find the sheet music for.

In 2013, Lizzie started to lose her hearing in her left ear. It slowly got worse and two weeks before her 26th birthday she was fitted for a hearing aid. Since then, her hearing has continued to deteriorate and she now has moderate-severe hearing loss in both of her ears. She doesn’t qualify for assistance through the government because she is now over 26, and to make matters worse, her one hearing aid is now on its last legs! 

She has begun taking steps towards getting surgery to help with her hearing, but it’s likely going to be at least two years before she can get this done. With her hearing aid constantly breaking, Lizzie is having so much trouble with uni and her daily life. 

As a full-time student, forking out $5000 for a new set of hearing aids is impossible. We’re hoping to help her out by raising some money towards a pair of hearing aids to get her through the next two or more years. $5000 will buy a pair of new mid-range hearing aids with a warranty. They won’t be the flashiest hearing aids in the world, but they will make a world of difference!
