Get Kristof to the World Transplant Games 2023

Donation protected
Hello,
We are the Polgar family, and we are fundraising for our son, Kristof, to give him the opportunity of a lifetime: to compete at the World Transplant Games in Perth, Australia, in April 2023.

Kristof was born with a rare genetic liver condition and underwent a lifesaving liver transplant just before his third birthday. Before his transplant, he couldn’t eat and sleep properly and was so weak that he could not walk. A few weeks after his transplant, he learnt to walk. A few months later, he started to play tennis, and the love of racket sports has stayed with him ever since.

Kristof is now 14 years old, and his sporting achievements to date are as follows:
• 4 times British Transplant Games Champion in tennis
• 5 times British Transplant Games Champion in badminton
• 7 times British Transplant Games Champion in table tennis
• 3 times World Champion - he won gold medals in his three racket sports at the World Transplant Games in 2019 as a Team GB & NI member (see photo).
• Batonbearer for the Commonwealth Games Birmingham in 2022.

His latest achievement was winning three gold medals in table tennis, tennis and badminton in July 2022 at the British Transplant Games in Leeds. Based on his performance, he has been invited to join Team Great Britain & Northern Island (GB&NI) and compete at the World Transplant Games in Perth, Australia, in April 2023.

Participation in the World Games is entirely self-funded, and given that the Games will be in Australia, the related costs are very high. So we need your help to make Kristof’s sporting dreams come true.

As Kristof is under 18 years old, he will need to be accompanied by an adult, so the breakdown of costs below is calculated for him (a junior competitor) and an adult supporter.

How your donations will help Kristof to fulfil his dream:
£1000 - will cover registration fees
£3500 - will cover flights
£2500 - will cover accommodation, travel costs, meals, team uniform
Total cost: £7000

Kristof continues to work very hard and trains every single day. He knows the importance of leading an active and healthy lifestyle and is very committed to raising awareness and promoting the benefits of organ donation.

Most importantly, he wants to make his donor, donor family and all who look after him at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital proud!

Any donation is gratefully received, and any funds raised over our target amount will go towards the costs of Kristof's training. Even if you are not in a position to donate, please share Kristof’s story and fundraising page with your friends and families and talk about your organ donation decision with your loved ones.

Many thanks and lots of love from us all,

Kristof, Doroti, Erika and Csaba xxxx
