We are reaching out to the community to support Justin Milligan, a man who has dedicated his life to advocating for those without a voice. On March 18, 2025, Justin’s life changed in an instant when he suffered a severe fall in Santa Rosa. The accident resulted in a broken back and permanent paralysis from the waist down.
Justin is not just an attorney; he is a tireless ally for the most vulnerable members of our community. As a Homelessness Prevention Attorney at Legal Aid of Sonoma County, Justin works tirelessly to remove legal obstacles to housing. His commitment is deeply personal—Justin himself experienced homelessness earlier in his life, a background that fuels his unwavering empathy and drive to ensure, as Justin says, no one "suffers and dies on our streets." Beyond his work with the unhoused, Justin has been recognized as Sonoma County’s Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year for his commitment to our community. Now Justin and his wife, Maria, need our help.
Despite Justin's life-altering injury, his spirit remains unbroken and his wife has remained by his side. He is adapting to his new reality with the support of Maria. However, Justin and Maria need help to create a meaningful path to ensure Justin can remain independent. Unfortunately, Justin needs specialized equipment that their insurance will not cover.
Justin is an amazing soul who needs some help during this challenging time. Please help us raise funds to ensure Justin can retain his autonomy. He has done so much for our community, and now, it is our turn to return that passion.
Ideally, we will raise enough funds to help Justin and Maria purchase a wheelchair-accessible van with hand controls. This is imperative for Justin to find his new way toward independence because the van will give him the freedom to:
- Drive himself.
- Attend ongoing medical and physical therapy appointments.
- Maintain his quality of life by continuing his outdoor adventures with Maria and their cat, Neptune.
How You Can Help
Justin has spent years fighting for others. Now, it is our turn to fight for him. Our goal is to raise $50,000.
Please donate! While we ask for your help and support, Justin's life can be dramatically improved if we can collectively show him the kindness he has shown so many in our community.
Thank you for your donation.
