Justice for the Harris Park Moose
A beloved cow moose was found shot and left to die near Harris Park/Deer Creek Campground (along CR 43 above the Y) the weekend of September 28–30. She was shot three times from behind and abandoned near the creek — a cruel and senseless act that has left her two calves orphaned.
This is not an isolated incident. Similar poaching crimes have been reported in the same area over the past few years. It’s heartbreaking to see such disregard for our wildlife and community, and we’re determined not to let this go unanswered.
We’re raising funds to establish a reward for information leading to the identification and conviction of the person (or persons) responsible for this crime. Every dollar raised will go directly toward that goal — to encourage anyone with information to come forward and help bring justice for this moose and her calves.
If, after 12 months, no perpetrator has been identified or convicted, all funds will be donated to Colorado Parks & Wildlife (CPW) to support their ongoing efforts in wildlife protection, education, and anti-poaching enforcement.
While the official investigation is being handled by wildlife authorities, community action can make a difference. The more visibility and incentive we can create, the better the chances that someone steps forward with critical information.
Let’s stand together as a community that values and protects the wild creatures that make Colorado so special. This moose and her calves deserve justice — and your support can help make that happen.
Please donate, share, and spread the word.
Let’s make sure those responsible are held accountable, and that future acts of cruelty like this are prevented.
