Get Jordan to Banff!

Donation protected

Jordan Svenkeson is a Vancouver-based actor and fight choreographer, known locally for work with Affair of Honour (Soul Samurai, House of Arms) and Geekenders (Slumber Here, Rocky Horror, A Magical Christmas Yule Ball). Jordan works tirelessly on his craft, constantly practicing and developing his skills as an artist. He has used the challenges in his life to grow personally and help form his positive, supportive personality, which in turn has brightened the lives of all those who have had the pleasure of interacting with him.

Since moving to Vancouver from Saskatoon a little over a year ago to pursue acting, Jordan has been supporting himself through a rough season for film, car repairs, updated headshots, and two moves. As well, Jordan’s serving job has been disrupted as he is in rehearsals full-time for two plays — one of which he’s helping out of a jam after they lost an actor. As a result, Jordan is finding himself unable to attend the Paddy Crean International Workshop in Banff, a program he has been looking forward to attending for two years.

The program explores techniques, processes, theories, and practices as applied to combat for the stage, screen, and martial arts (contemporary and historical). Not only that, but this year’s workshop is on gender equality and cultural diversity in the industry, which would be incredibly valuable and inspirational, and something he could bring back to Vancouver.

It’s not easy to just go another time to this conference, as Paddy Crean only happens every other year. Besides the fact that this year’s focus on diversity will not be the theme of future conferences, this event is Jordan’s ‘summer camp’, something he waits eagerly to attend every two years so he can mingle with contemporaries, develop professionally, network, and see old friends.

Registration for Paddy Crean closes on November 21st, but I am confident that in that time, we can raise the money to send Jordan there!! Jordan is a good-hearted, generous person who helps his friends and loved ones whenever and wherever he can. I believe in him and his talent so much, and I really think he deserves to go to Banff in the winter (if that’s what he wants!).

The workshop fee is 1923.70+GST plus a 35 dollar registration fee. This covers the workshop itself, as well as accommodation.

We need at LEAST 200.00 plus the registration fee by the 21st, and then the rest by December 15th.
