On December 14th this year John and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary. 3 weeks ago, I didn't think he would survive the night.
He had been admitted to hospital with sepsis, and gone into septic shock, the prognosis was not good.
But somehow he survived. He had an amputation of the right leg, so all that remains, is from the hip to above the knee.
He is now home from hospital, and making slow progress.
We are still in Mexico, and although the surgery and care was good, once you are discharged from the hospital you're on your own.
Medical treatment, medication, appointments, supplies, the list is endless, and everything has to be paid for, no NHS or OHIP here, and in 3 months we are hoping to go for the first appointment for the prosthetic limb, which I know is going to be expensive.
I struggled for a long time whether I should do a fundraiser, friends here in Mexico have been amazing, but many family members and friends who don't live in Mexico have said, "if there's anything I can do just let me know" so this is how you can help.
GET JOHN WALKING , it's going to be a bit of a task, but we need a goal, and the appointment for the prosthetic limb has to be the goal.
Donations of any amount will be truly appreciated.
Some of you will have know about Johns amputation, and I apologise to those of you who didn't know.
So, on with the positive attitude, we will get John walking
Please share, any amount will help.
Thank you, and take care,
Jeanette
