I am Jasper’s spare human. I’ve been blessed to love him for over a year now, and we’ve run into bladder issues with our boy. Around December 4th, Jasper started jumping between litter boxes frequently. Wondering if it was something with the boxes, we waited a few days, and his frequent box visits stopped. On December 7th, we took him to the vet as a precaution. Our vet was unable to get a urine sample, so he ruled out a blockage, placed him on an anti-inflammatory, and gave him an antibiotic shot that would last 2 weeks. His symptoms did not return, so we thought we were in the clear. Fast forward to Christmas Eve, we left our house at 5:30 pm for a Christmas party. When we left, Jasper was playful, using the litter box fine, being his normal self. At around 8:30 pm, we returned home, and Jasper was screaming in the litter box. He got out and continued to do so while he tried to lick himself and would hiss. We immediately rushed him to the nearest ER vet, where they did multiple tests. Thankfully, he did not have a blockage, but the buildup in his bladder could cause one at any moment. After a $1400 quote for an overnight stay, we had to opt into subcutaneous fluids and to be sent home to monitor him hourly, administering Gabapentin and Clavamox every 12 hours. That bill was over $500. Now, 7 days later, he is actively peeing but is having issues with bowel movements. We are anticipating, bare minimum, another $500 in vet bills to get our boy back to health. On top of that, his food has to be changed to Purina Pro Plan Urinary Tract Canned food. This change would add an additional $200-$300 to our monthly bills. We have 4 cats and both work full time; we essentially live paycheck to paycheck. I’ve already taken out a loan for the previous bills, Care Credit has denied me, and all of the vets within range do not offer payment plans. If you can’t pay, they euthanize with no grace period of holding for payment.

If you know me or his Dad, you know we don’t ask for help. We move things around, sell things, anything we can to not ask. But at this point, we’re out of options.

Anything helps, we just want our boy healthy again.
