Hi everyone! I am applying for a Master's Degree at King's College London, and as I'm sure you're aware university fees are very expensive.
For someone such as myself who is applying for an MMus Composition pathway, there are very few ways, if any, of funding your course through bursary or scholarship schemes, and I would never be able to pay the fees outright.
Equally, your chances of success as a composer are limited without the respective higher education qualifications.
Therefore, I am taking on the task to try and fundraise at least a portion of the £10,000+ cost myself with the help of generous donors.
I am applying for a Master's in Composition as this is the next step in the pursuit of a successful career as a composer. I have been fortunate enough to work on the film 'The Lost Girl' which premiered at Bush House in January 2020 , and have also worked on short animated films and theatre production scores.
I was accepted onto the Advanced Free Composition pathway as part of the third year of my Bachelor of Music, where I studied with Dr Edward Nesbit and Dr Thomas Hyde; to whom I owe a lot of gratitude and respect.
I have made such great progress in the last three years of composing and I wish to take it that one step further, as this will help me reach new levels of success and be more well respected as a composer; especially with the MMus after my name.
As you will have guessed, there are hurdles such as course fees and maintenance costs along the way, and any support from generous people such as yourselves would go so far to help me.
The Master's courses here in the UK require a £500 deposit upon acceptance of your place at the university and, as I'm sure you'll agree, this is a hefty some of money to fork-out, in one go, for a student such as myself.
Any funds that are raised via this page will go towards the costs of applying, laying down a deposit, and as maintenance for my Master's Degree; a process that I am currently undergoing. If possible, I will be able to use some of this funding to supplement my course fees also.
I am so thankful to all those who have helped me with my education journey to date, and I am sure to be eternally grateful for all the generous support I may receive in the future.
