Get Jack to Stowe Story Labs!

Hi! My name is Jack Warren and I'm a writer and filmmaker seeking assistance in financing my participation in Stowe Story Labs' June Narrative Lab to develop my feature screenplay, Violent Delights.

After years of screening my short films around the world, I'm ready to make the leap to feature filmmaking. As any filmmaker worth their salt will tell you, this is no easy task. Stringing together sound and image coherently is difficult enough to do over the span of twelve minutes (or even two), but I’ve found success by leaning on a powerful community of friends, family, and collaborators. Whether you’ve held a boom mic, donated to an Indiegogo, or logged me on Letterboxd, you’ve likely helped me along my filmmaking journey in one shape or form, and I am very proud of the results. (And if you’ve never interacted with me or my work, your eyes on this GoFundMe are at the very least helping me out algorithmically.) My work has played at dozens of film festivals, from Woodstock to Dublin to Berlin, where I’ve been programmed alongside great, exciting films from some of my favorite artists.

Taking this next step will require help from friends old and new. I submitted to Stowe Story Labs because I wanted to sharpen my script under the tutelage of a talented pool of peers and mentors, as well as learning from industry professionals who are experienced in the delicate art of moving a script from development to production. After undergoing their competitive submission process, Violent Delights was selected for workshop, where it was shortlisted as a semifinalist for a development fellowship from The Black List.

Violent Delights is a horror romance about a trans boy and a cannibal girl who fall in love and fight for survival against her homicidal family. It's a gory romp about staying alive in a world dead set on grinding you to dust, and it's a story I have never been more eager to tell. I’m very excited for you to see it.

Having been self-employed for about a year, I've had more time to work on creative endeavors at the cost of having excess funds to take advantage of opportunities like these on my own.
