Background story:
I'm only one of thousands of trans people across the UK organising a fundraiser to help with healthcare costs. I’ve been on a waiting list with the NHS since March 2020. Based on the current information provided by the gender clinic, I would be seen for a first appointment in January 2025. That's 2 years and 2 months from now, and 5 years of waiting in total. There are considerable reasons why this wait isn't feasible for me:
- Mental Health - Living in a body that doesn't reflect who I am affects me negatively daily. i.e. feeling confident at work and in relationships;
- Physical Health - I’ve been wearing a binder for 4 years. This restricts my breathing and has led me to gradually avoid physical activity. It has also unfortunately led to regular pain in my chest and back;
- Surgery Results - The longer I wear it the less successful the surgery results will be as muscles deteriorate.
Raising £10,000:
My aim is to raise £10,000. This amount would enable me to pay for:
£8,265 - Total surgery cost
£850 - 4 x Gender Psychologist Referral Appointments
£200 - Initial surgeon consultation
~ £400 - GoFundMe Fees
~ £300 - Train tickets, recovery gear, AirBnb outside of London.

These past few years have been a lot for us. For me it has brought home how much we need each other. The turning point in deciding to organise this crowdfunder was people's kindness. In the last few years so many people in my life have showed up for me when I didn’t even know how to ask for help.
