Get Hip in 2022
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Zoran and I am raising money to get a new hip.
It was two weeks before my 54th birthday when I first noticed the pain. It was one of those little annoyances I thought would go away in a few days but the pain just got worse. Trips to the chiropractor and doing stretches and exercises did not work. A trip to the orthopedist and a few x-rays later, I was informed I had no more cartilage in my left hip. I tried getting injections into the socket but these did not help. My doctor said I would need an artificial hip if I were to walk again without pain but for him to operate I would need to drop 70 pounds. I tried keto but that didn't work, so in February of 2021 I started Nutrisystem. The first 40 pounds was easy and then the going got tough. I lost 55 lbs by the end of the year and I by the first quarter of 2022 I expect to be at the right weight to operate. I don't know the exact amount of the surgery but my 2022 health insurance plan has a yearly out of pocket maximum of $7000 so I am setting that as my fund raising goal, even though I don't know if I will lose days of work due to rehab.
I don't know why this has affected me at such a young age. My dad had the same condition so perhaps it is hereditary or maybe I am just too damn fat. I get funny looks from the senior citizens when I'm zipping around the supermarket in a motorized cart while they are walking under their own power.
I am really looking forward to getting my life back. I'm so tired of the terrible pain that is with me whenever I am on my feet that renders even the most simple task an agonizing ordeal. I want to be able to do chores and projects around the house without it hurting. My wife is disabled with epilepsy and schizophreniform disorder and I really need to been in good health so I can take care of her.
I hope my friends, family, and acquaintances can help me overcome this major life obstacle.
