Get Hannah to Kenya - Camps International 2026
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Hannah and I have the opportunity to to go to Kenya for a month with Camps International, through my school. I will go in July 2026, just after completing my GCSE’s (something I will really look forward to after all of my hard work!). I will be part of various projects whilst on the expedition, supporting local communities. This may be building classrooms to provide safe learning environments, building desks for children who would otherwise be learning whilst sitting on the floor, making ethical elephant deterrents to protect local crops, goat de-worming or installing fresh water tanks in villages to name a few!
The total cost of the trip is just short of £4500 and I, with support from my family, will be raising money to fund as much of that as possible myself. In addition to this cost, I will need appropriate kit for the expedition, vaccinations, insurance and some spending money so I have set my sights high with my target.
From our house to Mombasa (the location of one of 3 camps that I will stay at) by car is 6986 miles, a journey which would take 6 days or 145 hours to complete. I am so excited to be going to Kenya and my family is really supportive of my ambition to get there. We have set ourselves the challenge of running/cycling (road or spin bike)/walking/swimming the total distance of 6986 miles in the 20 months remaining before I leave for this adventure. That’s a whopping 350 miles per month! The challenge started on 1st October 2024 and will end on 30th June 2026.
So far we have clocked up the following:
17.7 mile spin 3rd October 2024
16.5 mile spin 5th October
5 mile walk 5th October
19 mile spin 7th October
3 mile bike 12th October
20 mile spin 12th October
2 mile walk 13th October
17.5 mile spin 14th October
14 mile spin 16th October
That’s 114.7 miles so far which means we’ve reached Leicester!
We will log all of the mileage that we complete as we do it and will provide updates as our challenge progress.
Any donations will be so gratefully received and will mean the world to all of us but especially me. So come on, dig deep and let’s get me to Kenya!
