Get Grayson to the Junior World Cup
Hi, I'm Grayson Laugher, and I’m proud to say I now have the chance to compete in the 2021/2022 Junior Luge World Cup. But to get there, I could use just a little help.
First a bit about my background. I’m 16, from New Jersey, love cold and speed and began skiing Black Diamonds at four.
But the first time I saw a live luge race at the 2017 World Cup, in Lake Placid, it changed my life. I was hooked. Sure, it was a little challenging making the commute from New Jersey to Lake Placid each weekend, but I was determined to make it work.
And that very next year, in 2018, I started training with the Adirondack Luge Club. Then, just 18 Months later, I competed in the Empire State games and to the surprise of everyone, (even seasoned sliders), I took home the Gold.
In 2020, I came in 9th in The US National Championships- and though this wasn’t enough to get me on the US team, luckily, I was eligible for another…
Oh, yeah, I have dual US / Australian Citizenship. I am thrilled to join the Australian luge team for the 2021/2022 Junior World Cup.
Now I have the chance to fulfill my ultimate dream, to represent Australia at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina, Italy.
But first, to even get there, I need to complete the next step and compete in the Junior World Championships.
Between the FIL, the Australian Team, my parents, and my dog walking business, I have my equipment, travel, race fees, some accommodation and training costs covered, but I still have a couple of costs left:
Training: $3,800 for training runs.
(A $28 contribution buys me one training run.)
Accommodations: $3,200
(An $80 contribution buys me one night of accommodation)
Meals: $1000
(A $12 contribution buys me one lunch.)
Any donation you could make to help me get there, would be greatly appreciated. I also hope that you will follow me on my journey on instagram at Grayson_Laugher_Luge
Thank you so much,
Grayson - Team Australia
