Get Grace, an Orphan from South Sudan, to Cornell
Donation protected
My name is Umerani Grace. Here are three things you should know about me. Please, I need your help.
1. I have just graduated with a degree in Public Health from the University of Rochester in New York. This is still a stunning fact to me because…
2. I was born in a small village called Nzara in South Sudan to a 17-year-old mother who tragically died when I was 18 months old. I lived with my father and his parents, but my poor father died when I was four years old. This was the beginning of a childhood of hardship and loneliness in an orphanage. Through a ton of hard work and some lucky breaks, I made it to the University of Rochester on a full scholarship. Today I have a brand-new dream.
3. I want to change the healthcare system in Africa and work in public health! Public health is my passion because I can educate people on the importance of sickness prevention, which could ultimately save more lives and significantly impact society. People like my Mother and Father could live long and happy lives if someone like me were there to guide the community. I have been accepted to Cornell University for a master’s degree in public health, focusing on Infectious Diseases. I will use my skills to bring change that will enable people to live healthy and happier life.
That is where I need your help. It is expensive! The financial burden is a huge barrier in the way of this dream. I am ready and eager to do the work; I just need help getting in the door. I hope you can help out by donating and sharing this. I look forward to updating you on my progress when you become part of the community lifting me!
Thank you for your support.
