Get George back on his feet!
Donation protected
On Friday, January 6, 2017, my 15 year old nephew George had a terrible accident while snowboarding in Colorado. He fell in just the wrong way and despite the fact that we was wearing a helmet, George was critically injured. He was airlifted of the mountain by Colorado's Flight for Life Team, and taken directly to a level one trauma center in Denver where he underwent emergency surgery. Unfortunately it was determined that he had fractured his neck (C6 & C7) and sustained severe damage to his spinal cord. At the young age of 15, George is currently paralyzed from his stomach down. The surgeons have told us that there is only a very small chance he will walk again. But there IS a chance.
Some good news.... Denver is home the Craig Hospital, a world renown facility who's only mission is the treament of spinal cord injuries (SPI) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). If there is any chance for him to walk again or regain something close to a normal life it will happen at Craig. George will enter their 90 day intensive inpatient program in a week or so. Needless to say, he has a huge mountain climb - physically, emotionally, and mentally. George's family does have medical insurance and other resources which will cover most of the cost of his medical care at Craig Hospital.
Why do we need your help?
All of George's immediate family lives in Florida, nearly 2000 miles from his hospital bed in Colorado. We are told by the professionals that having his family engaged in his recovery process is absolutely critical to achieving the best possible outcome. Our goal is to ensure that a large part of his family can be there as much as possible. This will require many trips between Florida and Colorado over the the next three months. Travel, lodging, and food costs will be staggering. Donations collected here will be used to enable his family to participate in the recovery of this brave 15 year old kid.
