My dear forever friend was involved in a very terrible car crash in Victoria, Texas, just 2 hours from her destination on June 4, 2020. She was extricated with jaws of life and a great fire and EMT team. She and her 3 small dogs survived, but she was in the trauma hospital for 5 days 22 hours. She has 4 broken spine bones (L-1 to 4) & other injuries to hip and shoulder. Her vehicle is totaled and her trailer needs repair so that she can get back on the road to her home in Mexico. She has unpaid medical expenses ( you need to be in the hospital for SIX days to avoid the $325 per day medicare copay, and her auto insurance policy for personal injury is for $35,000. Her medical stay and copays for the services she required for those almost 6 days will mount to several thousand dollars more than her coverage. She cannot return to Mexico until she has a vehicle that is completely paid for with title in hand. She will need living expenses for a period of time as well as vet care. The amount the insurance will pay is expected to be 4 to 5 thousand for her totalled 2008 Honda Element with nearly 200,000 miles on it. This won't cover the cost of another one.
