Hello! My name is Kim, or Kida, and I'm a non-binary artist currently living in Florida.
Politically, things are getting scary in the state of Florida. The government is doing its best to essentially eradicate trans and queer folks. My parents that I live with are right-wing, so I've already been deep in the closet for the last decade; watching all of this go down while my gender dysphoria has only grown in recent years is honestly terrifying. I feel trapped, more than usual, and I'm finally hitting my tipping point. I need to make a change for the better, I don't want to give up on life despite my mental state doing its damndest to make me.
I have a large support network in the Seattle, WA area: at least a couple dozen friends who I met while living in the bay area for a short while. They mean the world to me, and Covid as well as limited funds kept me from seeing them more than once a year, assuming I could see them at all. I want to live closer so I can see them more regularly again. Seattle is also a much more queer-friendly city, which would be perfect for me to explore my identity and find my true self after suppressing those feelings for so long.
I already have a job secured and potential roommates; I just need the funds to make the move itself. I would need a couple of months' rent to help me put down a deposit and stabilize, and funds to acquire consistent transportation or move my current car out that way. I don't have much in savings because I was convinced to spend most of my funds to get below the threshold for acquiring food stamps, since I don't have a very consistent income. Unfortunately, the attempt to get food stamps fell through due to a variety of reasons, such as the local offices failing to answer phone calls to meet established deadlines.
