Hi there,

We are Frederick Roller Derby, a sports team located in Frederick, Maryland! You're probably reading this because you've heard about what's been happening with our league. Up until recently, our league was run through the Frederick City Parks and Recreation Department. On March 28, 2023, the Parks and Rec Department decided to terminate its sponsorship of our league. While the city has made efforts to minimize our start-up costs, we are still faced with exorbitant out-of-pocket expenses as we rebuild our league.

Roller derby has always been a grassroots sport that lifts up and empowers its skaters. Losing this community would be detrimental to so many of our members and leave the Frederick area as one of the few DMV areas without a roller derby league. Throughout this entire experience, our league members have banded together in solidarity with a fierce determination to reconstruct and restore our league as a safe, inclusive space for all. Please help us succeed in this mission!

These funds will be used to regain new skater gear and training time, provide an angel fund for those who cannot afford newly instated monthly dues, pay for league insurance, cover travel costs for upcoming bouts, cover venue rental fees, pay for EMT's at bouts, replenish practice equipment, and more.
