Hi guys, Evan here! I’m 15 years old and I’ve set up this page to be part of my fundraising to go to the 26th World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) in Poland 2027, but first of all I want to tell you about the WSJ and why it could have such a huge impact on my life.
Ever since I was 6 I have been involved in scouting and have loved every bit of it (or at least most of it!). During my time I have been able to kayak on the water, fly a microlight and camp in Jersey.
Now I understand that many other scouts just like me have been lucky enough to be chosen out of several on a weekend camp and so you may rightly think, why bother with me? All I can say is I have found that the community of scouting to be extraordinary and something I’ve not experienced at any other time or place.
As I left the selection camp (where I was selected for Poland) , I thought: “Wow, I think that was my best camp ever”. Not because of the activities as there wasn’t anything exhilarating as such, but the wonderful people who I met there built, alongside myself, a sense of unity and care for one another, despite myself having only known one other person there. This beyond words feeling can really only be amplified by camping with scouts from all across the world, from various continents and cultures, all coming to celebrate what scouting is all about.
I would therefore be extremely grateful for any donation you are willing/able to make to help amplify my scouting experience, by being able to go on the ultimate adventure of a lifetime to the World Scout Jamboree.
Whilst I have set this up, I am also in the progress of setting up several fundraising events which I promise to keep you in touch with.
It's also important to note that as a scout coming from a country like Britain, I have to make a bit more than others to help scouts from poorer countries have this opportunity.
