Help get endometriosis excision surgery for Erica

I’m Erica, a disabled queer non-binary femme artist and activist living in Oak Park, IL. I need to raise funds ASAP in order to travel out of state for an endometriosis expert excision surgery & hysterectomy in Atlanta, GA. I have severe endometriosis that’s been confirmed in my ovaries, uterus, & bowel, and is suspected in other areas.

I’ve lived with chronic illnesses & migraines for most of my life, but my endometriosis & hyperthyroid condition fully disabled me in 2017. My endometriosis has become debilitating, and I’m in extreme daily pain. Basic tasks are a huge struggle, if I’m able to do them at all. Chronic fatigue, pain, dysautonomia, & mobility struggles worsened after catching COVID in February 2021. I cannot work or do things I used to enjoy. I can barely eat & feel constantly malnourished. I’m housebound, often bedbound from this disease, & need my cane most days. I have little to no quality of life and am at my wit’s end - physically, mentally, & financially.

This surgery can ideally give me back some quality of life, save organ function, and improve the most severe symptoms that prevent me from functioning at a basic level.

Unfortunately like many, my insurance does not cover this vital procedure, and I’m forced to travel out of state for it to be performed by an expert. I need help with expenses for medical bills, travel, lodging, food, and medicine.

I‘ve tried everything to live with this incurable disease and tried for years to access surgery. This honestly feels like my last chance because I’m barely surviving & my condition worsens regularly.

My partner & I will be traveling/in GA for about 10-11 days, which will be very difficult physically & financially. All funds raised go directly towards expenses for surgery, medical bills, travel, hotel, food, medicine, and pain management appointments. Any extra funds raised will go towards recovery, physical therapy, and mobility aids.
