Get Ella to Spain!

A few years back, Edge Hill United Football Club had an excellent (but aging) goalkeeper. We were on the lookout for young talent to foster, knowing we needed a succession plan.

And there she was. Ella Buie. 12 years old. Huge Smile. Naturally athletic.

We asked if she'd be interested in undertaking some Goalkeeper training - no strings attached - and she shyly agreed.

Fast-forward two years, and she's the starting keeper for EHUFC's Premier Women's Team... at 14. The sky is the limit for this young woman.

As many of you know, Ella is one of six kids. Ella's Mum, Tamara, is a pillar of the EHUFC community; she would never dream of crowd-funding, she would work 80-hour-weeks to make it happen.

In 2024, less than 3% of our female youth playing football in the Far North were Indigenous. Ella is shining light. You can't be what you can't see.
