Hello!
Our Soaring Eagles Robotics Team recently placed 2nd in their state Iowa Robotics competition, and this win has qualified them to be a part of the Vex IQ worldwide event!
This year, the tournament will be held in Dallas, Texas, at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center at the beginning of May. All year they have been working not only on building and designing their robots but have also been working on communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and cooperation. They are a team that supports one another, and I am proud to be coaching such a fantastic group of kids.
There are eight members in the Soaring Eagles team!
Kamryn - 3rd Grade
Emma - 4th grade
Xander - 4th Grade
Levi - 4th Grade
Aviannah - 4th Grade
Lexi - 5th Grade
Charles - 5th Grade
Eddie - 5th Grade
This is a HUGE achievement for the kids and such an excellent and rare opportunity for them as well. A description of the tournament and a link to an example of the Worlds 2019 event is listed below for those interested in viewing an amazing example of what the event is like and about.
Description: The robotics community from all around the world will unite in person to celebrate STEM excellence and compete in heart-pounding competition matches. Student-led teams ranging from Elementary to University level will showcase their game strategy, design, and teamwork skills to be crowned champions at this world-class global event, hosted in the heart of Dallas, TX.
VEX IQ WORLDS event is a big commitment for parents as it will cover five days, including the travel time, which is 10 hours away. There are also many fees to attend the event.
How any funds raised will be used is to cover robotic pit items ($500), 8 hotel rooms in texas for our eight students+guardian(s) for 4 days ($2,560 total), and travel expenses ($1000). *Update-We were able to get a lower price on hotel rooms at $80 a night per student so we were able to lower our hotel goal and overall goal. Yay!
If you choose to donate, you will be making a HUGE difference in these extraordinary kid's lives. This trip, win or lose, would be the experience of a lifetime. Any amount is beyond greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much!
