Get Dobby Home!

Hi everyone!
Towards the end of July, we left London and arrived in Riyadh at the start of a six week tour contract.
On our second day, we found a tiny stray kitten in the street and were very quickly adopted by him. He waits for us outside our hotel day and night, and we’ve grown incredibly attached to him very quickly. He wasn’t in good shape when we found him, but we’ve been looking after him and it’s been amazing to watch him slowly get stronger.
We have named him Dobby, due to his very characteristic ears and as you can see from the photos, he really is the best boy: unbelievably affectionate, playful and friendly.
We can’t imagine leaving Dobby behind and are desperate to get him back to the UK so that we can give him a home with us. Sadly, the process takes a while and is quite complex. Due to the various government requirements around importing pets, it likely to take between 3-4 months.
We have enlisted the help of a logistics company in Riyadh and we need to cover a variety of things before Dobby will be able to enter the UK:
- Microchipping
- All core vaccinations, including rabies
- A blood test to confirm the rabies vaccine has worked
- Couriering this sample to a UK laboratory to be approved by the UK government
- Boarding for Dobby when our work contract is over and we have to return to the UK
- Dobby’s flight to the UK and equipment for travel
- All export documentation and inspection on arrival at Heathrow
Dobby has been an amazing companion during our trip and we would love to bring him to London – any donations large or small are hugely appreciated to help us get him home!
