Get Creative With Peace - Workshops

We are raising funds to run a series of workshops called ‘Get Creative With Peace’ at the Black Cultural Archives in Brixton .
The sessions combine themed video clips on the topics of peace, choice, personal well being and self discovery, with time for reflection, activities and creative expression.
We have lined up some enthusiastic and passionate folk to facilitate these workshops plus some heartfelt musicians and artists who will be adding their creative magic to the mix.
About Celebrate Life: We are a small, hard-working team of volunteers who have been working with communities for 9 years combining the arts with a message of peace. Whether it be a large-scale music event or an intimate workshop, the fundamentals remain the same: bringing people together of all backgrounds and giving them the space to share their humanity, wisdom and creativity. https://www.celebrate-life.co.uk
About the 'Get Creative with Peace' Workshops
The workshops have been created for teenagers, specifically with schools/colleges in mind, and are an introduction to the more in-depth and highly successful ‘Peace Education Programme’
We have previously run the Peace Education Programme in Brixton with excellent results, please see this video from Angell Town.
We have also run Creative Peace workshops with APOW, Refugee Youth, in Croydon. Please see this video
The ‘Get Creative with Peace’ workshops are our next step, responding to the feedback and interest we have received over the past couple of years. The video content features Prem Rawat’s message and stories, animated with graphics, music and images.
We had our first taster session at the Black Cultural Archives in April (video here ) which was very successful and made it clear how much interest there is.
With the current epidemic of youth violence in London, there is an urgency verging on desperation to address the core issues and try to help our youth in this time of crisis. The simple message of self-worth, dignity and our power of choice, contained within these workshops, helps us connect with our inner strengths.
What the funds will be used for
The event costs amount to £1600 and most of that has been kindly covered by Peace Partners. We need the remaining £600 to cover facilitator and artist fees in order for these events to go ahead.
Any financial support, however small, means a lot to us! Your help is pivotal to the success of our project, so all donations will be gratefully received.
