Get Con Home

Hi, my name is Trifon Vais and along with George Groumbos we are raising money for Con Makrigiannis and thank you for taking the time to read our story.

Con is 43 years old, had been recently married, was and still is surrounded by a loving family, a fantastic group of friends and work colleague's whom he was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Fishing was his passion; he loved the outdoors and many a weekend he would be out on his kayak soaking it all up and it would be fair to say life was looking pretty good.

On the 31st of July 2022 that all changed for Con and his family.

Whilst having a Sunday dinner at the home of his parents with his brother, sister-in-law, niece, nephew and parents Con collapsed at the dinner table and suffered, which was diagnosed later, as a massive cardiac arrest. Whilst his brother was providing first aid an ambulance was called and Con was rushed to hospital.

What followed was weeks and months of waiting with Con in a coma and no certainty of if or in what condition he would awake.

Con finally came to, but unfortunately with the loss of oxygen to the brain for a long period of time Con suffered permanent brain damage and is in a vegetive state unable to communicate, feed himself or perform the simplest of tasks requiring 24 hours around the clock attention and has been in hospital since that day.

Con has had rehabilitation, but the reality is he will never recover, and it is time for him to move out of hospital. Unfortunately, there are no facilities for younger people in his condition and a nursing home is the only option Con has at the moment.

His parents although in there 70s, have decided that the best place for Con to be is home and they will provide the round the clock care required, and this is where the help is required.

With limited funding and to be able to achieve their goal the family home requires to go under some major changes to cater to Cons needs and large number of equipment required to make caring for Con at home manageable.
