Get Claire to an Immunologist

Claire is a bright, thoughtful person with a life filled with bad luck. After living with SLE, lupus, APS, EDS, systemic dysautonomia, gastroparesis, and Fabry--all while raising a son who is now a teenager--she has developed another mystery disease. For several months, she has been dealing with sudden swelling, redness, loss of breath, and many other symptoms that have put her in the hospital on and off. Now, she has a diagnosis (sort of). She now knows that she has been dealing with an extended mast cell flare, which has now gotten so bad that she is afraid for her future and that of her son. A diagnosis is good news. But, there's one massive problem--no one in her state or surrounding states will treat her.

From Claire:

"I’m over here in Oklahoma trying not to die because I’m having very severe mast cell flare and my doctors can’t find a hospital in Texas that is willing or able to treat me. Oklahoma has 3 immunologists, and none accept my insurance. Medicaid will only cover treatment in bordering states…"

This added bureaucracy of the American medical system is the last thing someone her position needs to deal with--yet, here we are. With a very limited support network, exhausted resources, and doctors who can no longer help her, Claire is doing her best to manage these challenges.

Here's where you can help. Claire is working on finding a hospital to transfer to, and things are looking promising. However, in order to get transferred, she has to pay the transfer costs up front. She needs these funds in order to get to the doctors that can help her. Update: hospital transfer stabilized her temporarily and sent her on her way to move to Washington state where she can settle with a new doctor and a support system. But the move is going to COST. Because she physically can’t do any of it. 

Claire is usually a bright, perky person who is thoughtful of others. She just wants to get back to whatever version of "normal" is possible for her. Any amount you can contribute to her transfer will go a long way, and I know that she will appreciate it.
