Our little chili pepper has been struggling with a rare diagnosis of Autoimmune Neutropenia for over the last one year, with multiple relapses. Her treatment is costly and requires potent medications, frequent vet visits with blood work, and at the worst hospitalizations.Autoimmune neutropenia is a condition of a low neutrophil count. The immune system of pets with immune mediated neutropenia destroys blood cells, specifically, neutrophils. Neutrophils are the first responders of the immune system. Without them, the immune system cannot inactivate infectious agents, and patients run the risk of developing a life-threatening systemic infection.
Little chili had a bad relapse and is going to have to be hospitalized to provide her with IV antibiotics, a germ free environment and an extensive workup for other potential causes.
If you know Chris and myself, then you know Chili is our baby. We would do anything to keep her safe and get her healthy. Unfortunately this disease has created a huge financial burden, limiting our ability to continue to pay for these costly interventions.
So we are turning to our community and asking for any bit of support. Any amount makes a difference and means the world to us, so we can get the pepper healthy again!
