About 4-5 years ago when Chief was a little kitten he climbed into the engine of a car and unfortunately when the car turned on, the fan belt took his facial skin and ears. He had a lot of surgeries to help him and he has looked like this since. He can still see and hear and he is otherwise a healthy cat living a normal cat life. Everyone who meets him falls in love; he’s such a good boy and deserves the best!
He was just seen at the ophthalmologist on 3/16/22 and she said that said he is a candidate for reconstructive surgery, which is amazing news!! He will be getting two different surgeries: on his left eye he will be getting a lip to lid transposition to help create an upper eyelid and reduce the development of corneal ulcers in the future and giving him more overall comfort and in his right eye he will be getting a permanent partial tarsorrhaphy to help protect the cornea and third eyelid due to that eye having more extensive damage and scarring than the left.
The itemized estimate that they quoted me was between $4800-$5200. Luckily the surgeries are not something that has to be done urgently and anything helps to go towards making him feel better. Thank you!
