Hello, my name is Charles. I had worked for the same live music venue for over nine years until the pandemic hit, but when the venue began reopening under new management, I found myself demoted while a new employee was given my old position, despite the fact they still needed me to hold their hand in every aspect of the job.

To make matters worse, I was subjected to racial discrimination by other employees (above is a screenshot of a mis-text from a co-worker who's still employed by the venue) and witnessed numerous other racist and sexist incidents, which created a hostile work environment and very little was done when it was brought to the attention of management. On top of all that, I lost the only parent I’ve ever known with the passing of my grandmother during this time, which further deteriorated my mental and emotional well-being.

 

Depression and my inability to continue working in a hostile environment have led to severe financial hardship, so I’m seeking some assistance to get back on my feet. Anything you can contribute would be greatly appreciated!
