Get Cecily to NYC for the LINK Program!

"Time flies by when you're having fun" is a saying I now know to be true. It feels like yesterday; I was packing up my room in Conyers, Georgia, getting ready to be a freshman BFA Musical Theatre major at Howard University. Now I am a graduating senior with an opportunity of a lifetime.

I am Cecily Dionne Davis, a Senior BFA Musical Theatre major at Howard University from Atlanta, Georgia.

I am so excited to have been selected to participate in the 2023 LINK program in New York City. I was Nominated by my sister D'kaylah Whitley, a 2018 Graduate of Heritage High School Academy for Performing and Visual Arts. Upon completion of the 2022 LINK Program, D'kaylah has booked on Broadway a part of the cast of Dear Evan Hansen. D'kaylah was nominated by Ramone Nelson, a 2017 Graduate of Heritage High School Academy for Performing and Visual Arts. Upon Completion of the 2021 LINK Program, Ramone is currently booked on Broadways Tony Award-winning MJ The Musical.

More about LINK : 16 Singer/dancers and 16 Singer/actors are chosen from around the United States to work with Broadway professionals and perform in a showcase for many of the top Talent Agencies in the nation. I am the FIRST HBCU student selected for this program and am ecstatic to represent THE Mecca!

Over my four years at Howard, I have embodied our motto of "Leadership, excellence, truth and service." Through serving as the 84th Miss Howard University, the 1st Miss Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts, and Miss College Hall North, I always kept a fire lit inside of me to serve my community. By securing $60,000 to Co- produce the very first Student produced Musical on Howards Campus (also the first all-black cast and crew of Heathers: the Musical), I have opened the doors for the students of the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts to continue to be inspired. Participation in the LINK program will allow me to nominate 2-3 students for the 2024 showcase, ensuring that from one of my nominees, Howard is ALWAYS in the room.

The money raised will cover getting to and from NYC, my lodging, food and fees associated with the program. Please help me by donating and sharing with anyone who can help my dreams come true. Like Tiana says, "I'm almost there!" ...
