Get Camille a Saddle

Our barn member and friend Camille has been fighting leukemia on and off for over 5 years. Her treatment has consisted of multiple chemotherapy treatments, experimental CAR-T immunotherapy trials, 2 bone marrow transplants, and a stint she recently received in the ICU due to complications from the second bone marrow transplant.

Camille started riding at the age of 5. Weekly lessons quickly turned into leasing and local shows, competing mainly in the hunters. When it was time for college, Camille had to take a break from riding to focus on her studies but knew she wanted to get back into riding if she had the chance. Then she was diagnosed with leukemia. After several months of chemotherapy, things started looking up for her; a friend had a horse, Poppy, that she needed to lease out. It broke Camille’s heart when she relapsed from cancer and had to put riding on hold to get more treatment.

It’s been several years since that relapse but Camille was able to ride again. She found Pacific View Sport Horses and trainer Rosy Dahlstrom where she started leasing Bomber, a talented and experienced jumper.

Summer of 2020 and she couldn’t have been a happier, even attending a local schooling show on her leased horse Bomber. But she had to make a tough decision to get a second bone marrow transplant to really solidify her remission. This decision forced her to put riding and leasing Bomber on hold as she continues to fight this awful disease. She hopes to come back stronger and healthier to both Rosy and Bomber, and the barn community she had grown to love at Pacific View Sport Horses.

Camille has had to put everything she loves on hold multiple times, especially horseback riding. It's been a challenging year as she relearns the meaning of life and regains the independence she once had before the ICU. Her motivation to heal stems from her deep love for her family, friends, and getting back to the horse she leased, Bomber.

Our barn would like to assist in the gift to aid Camille in her recovery by raising money to help her purchase a quality used saddle. Our barn rides in primarily in saddles made by Antares Sellier; we believe there's no match to the quality of the product and the comfort to the horse.

Camille is a fighter and an inspiration to all. Her journey hasn’t been easy. She is a warrior and deserves all the goodness life can bring!

If you want to know more details, she has documented her journey on Instagram @cam_vs_cancer and on her blog www.chroniclesofcamblog.wordpress.com.
